What is Business Transactional Work?

Business transactional practice involves researching, preparing and reviewing the documents that bring individuals and companies together: from contracts for large corporate mergers and acquisitions to the closing documents for the purchase of a house.

Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and laws also falls under this heading. Lawyers engaged in transactional practice traditionally do not see the inside of a courtroom. They are not the typical lawyers you see in TV shows, for example. Their main work involves contract research, drafting, negotiating, and advising.

Over his decades of practice, Mr. Kelly has helped his clients with hundreds of business transactions, ranging from the purchase or sale of a home, to the purchase or sale of larger businesses.

Oftentimes Mr. Kelly works together with an accountant, to ensure that the tax consequences of the transaction are properly taken into consideration.
